FAQ

WHAT IS A HYDROFOIL?

A Hydrofoil is like an aeroplane wing that is attached to the bottom of a surfboard. As the board moves forward, the wings provide lift and the rider experiences a unique sensation of flying over water. It is one of the most incredible and addictive sensations in all of sport. Foiling will have you tapping into a pure and exhilarating mental state of flow as you fly along effortlessly above the water like the silver surfer.

WHY E-FOILS?

If you've rented a supercar or taken flying lessons then E-foiling is the next high end experience for your bucket-list. E-foils are high tech hydrofoil surfboards that are powered by an electric motor and controlled via a Bluetooth controller. E-foils are a total game changer because they allow a complete beginner to experience foiling in a controlled and safe environment and at a pace which suits their needs. Traditional hydrofoiling can be quite challenging due to the amount of momentum and athleticism required to fly, but E-foiling is making the amazing world of hydrofoiling accessible to everyone.

IS IT DANGEROUS?

Hydrofoiling has some risks like any other water sport, and yes you will  fall in the water at some point! We tailor our group sizes and locations depending on conditions and provide expert instruction, high quality equipment and safety cover in order to keep you safe and give you the most incredible experience possible.

WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE?

Hydrofoiling is an unashamedly expensive sport due to the technology and engineering involved. E-foiling is a premium experience as it uses high end technology that still currently requires very high prices. All the materials and electronics that allow you to fly are handmade and very high tech. However the experience of flight is completely unique and unforgettable and so the lesson prices are great value overall.

WHAT IF I'M A COMPLETE BEGINNER?

If you have never set foot on a hydrofoil board before, then e-foiling is your ticket to learning to fly today. If you are able to kneel and stand on an inflatable SUP then you are likely to get flying within the session. If you want to learn a traditional foiling discipline then you will struggle without previous experience in surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing or SUP.

WHAT IF I'VE BEEN FOILING BEFORE?

If you're a Foiler and you're in Northern Ireland we'd love to hear from you as we grow our frothing community of foiling legends. Come add another string to your bow, try some different gear or even have a leisurely day trying out an E-foil and exploring some of the amazing locations we have on offer.

CAN KIDS TRY IT?

Currently hydrofoiling is for 16 year olds and over but watch this space!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

If you have your own wetsuit, that's great, but if not, no worries. We will provide you with all the hydrofoiling equipment and safety gear including a wetsuit, helmet and impact vest. If you would like to bring along your own foil gear for advice that's all good too.
